Job summary

Elizabethtown College invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Communications – Public Relations (non-tenure track). The nine-month, on-campus role supports a diverse student body within the School of Public Service and reports to the Dean. Start date: August 1, 2027.

Responsibilities include teaching Public Relations and related courses and advising student agencies. Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in communications or a related field with professional PR experience; a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in communications, public relations or related field with significant professional communications experience.
• Professional experience in public relations or strategic communications is required.
• Ph.D. in communications or related field is preferred.
• Previous teaching experience with evidence of student-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses including Public Relations, PR Writing, Advanced PR, Organizational Communications, Feature Writing, and Senior Capstone.
• Advise Jay Firm, the student-run public relations and strategic communications agency.
• Advise and mentor students, and supervise student research projects.
• Provide service to the program and participate in college-wide councils and committees.
• Support marketing and recruitment of undergraduate students to the program.
