Public Relations Coordinator (Full-Time)
Position Description

Chaminade Julienne seeks a mission-driven individual who looks forward to immersing into the experience of CJ and connecting with the community’s members and traditions — serving as the school’s public relations coordinator. The coordinator reports to the director of marketing and communications and is responsible for promoting the school’s mission (brand), major events and information services, and increasing public engagement. This will be accomplished by leading the production of and coordinating the regular distribution of CJ content via media releases and promotions, locally, regionally, and nationally.

Responsibilities include coordinating and executing PR campaigns; identifying and coordinating opportunities that garner school recognition in the local, regional and national communities; and identifying and setting up opportunities for school leaders to share their expertise to a broader community (media, organizations, businesses). Additionally, the coordinator will manage parent communications, the school’s website and will partner with the assistant director to plan and execute strategic social media campaigns. =

The successful candidate will have a degree in communications, PR, or marketing with relevant experience in the world of communications and promotions, and will have strong skills in writing and in producing composed communications that includes text, photos, graphics and video. The coordinator will be proficient in the use of communications tools and social media, and have the ability to develop strong working relationships within the CJ community and with those externally who can help promote the mission of CJ. The successful candidate will have the willingness to understand the school’s Catholic mission (school brand) as lived according to the traditions of the school’s founding religious communities, The Marianists and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

Duties include:
  • Plan and manage distribution of content/news releases to promote the mission of CJ through media, social media, partner organizations and CJ channels, locally and nationally;
  • Seek out opportunities for the school to garner recognition for its accomplishments and take ownership of the application process;
  • Create content for website, publications and social media (text, photographs, images, videos);
  • Manage content for CJ website including updates, news posts, employment opportunities, and the event calendar;
  • Create and send weekly, monthly, and bi-monthly e-newsletters; assist with other email marketing campaigns as needed;
  • Support brand management for the school;
  • Participate as a trusted member of the crisis/critical communications team.
  • Collaborate with departments to assist in event planning, registration and marketing for school-sponsored events including camps, reunions, athletic contests, receptions, outings and performances
BREAKDOWN
PR/Media relations
  • Build professional working relationships with CJ directors, teachers and staff to facilitate a good flow of communication;
  • Create working relationships with media representatives and partner organizations (ie, local and regional media, NCEA, Catholic Telegraph );
    • Create and submit news releases, presentations and/or speaking opportunities
    • Create/pitch suggestions;
  • Monitor news about Chaminade Julienne (ie, Google Alert and Analytics);
  • Pull monthly reports/reviews for CJ’s website and social media to determine the success of recent content and make recommendations for improvement; and
  • Actively seek and lead efforts to submit nominations for award and recognition programs for the school and its members.
Writing/Photography/Video – Brand centric
  • Identify good news stories showcasing the vibrancy and impact of the school and generate 1-2 new feature-length articles (with photo) per week;
  • Identify impactful social media and video opportunities and execute strategic content creation and posting.
  • Create and distribute content for parents on a weekly basis; assist with content creation for newsletters for department newsletters: alumni, prospective parents, community;
  • Create PR campaigns that will both ask for input/feedback and inspire increased engagement and brand recognition in the region;
  • Manage and update content on the school’s website; and
  • Contribute year-in-review copy/photos and other material as necessary for reports.
Content & Brand Management
  • Keep school website current with regular updates:
    • Community Update (stories);
    • Department pages (working with departments);
    • Forms and links as needed;
    • Web calendar items;
    • News alerts as needed; and
  • Assist in surveying social media and traditional media for school branding and mention.
School Events
  • Assist in the creation of event landing pages on the website;
  • Assist in the promotion of events through the website, social media, and traditional media; and
  • Provide day of event support, (hands-on help, communications-related set up/tear down, interviews/pictures/video), for signature events like:
    • President’s Leadership Reception;
    • Open House;
    • Graduation; and
    • Reunion Weekend.
Crisis and Critical Communications — confidential situations
  • Contribute as a member of the crisis and critical communications team; and
  • Assist departments in the publishing of change of a scheduled event.
Requirements

A thorough background check is required for all those employed or volunteering to work with youth or vulnerable adults as a cleric, at a parish or school, as an Archdiocesan employee or at an Archdiocesan institution.
