Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a Public Records Unit Supervisor to lead the Information Governance team. The role plans, organizes, and directs Public Disclosure activities and ensures timely responses in line with PRA rules.

You will supervise Communications Consultant 3 staff and coordinate internal/external document exchanges. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 3+ years in public disclosure, with preferred supervisory experience and a relevant bachelor’s

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of Public Disclosure experience, including processing public records requests and applying exemptions/redactions.
• Preferred: a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field and at least one year of supervisory or lead worker experience.

Responsibilities

• Managing and supervising the Public Records Unit Communications Consultant 3’s, ensuring requests are processed per policy and regulations.
• Ensuring consistency with Public Records processes across the agency.
• Monitoring, training, and evaluating staff; conducting regular team meetings to discuss PRA responses.
• Providing expert technical guidance on public disclosure issues.
• Assisting the Public Records Officer in managing responses to public records act litigation.
• Other duties as assigned.
