Job summary

The City of Fountain is seeking a Planning Technician to serve as the public's first point of contact at the Planning, Building and Community permit center. Under supervision, you will provide information on the Comprehensive Plan, zoning and related policies, and assist in processing planning applications and permits.

You will prepare reports, maintain records, support staff with development reviews, and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely permit issuance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental studies, public administration, economics, business, geography, or related field
  • Six months of planning/administration experience with heavy public contact
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Serve as initial public point of contact at the front counter, by phone, and via email
  • Process planning approvals and permits, and provide routine information
  • Assist with development review submittals and submittal requirements
  • Interpret zoning ordinance and provide property information
  • Prepare reports and maintain city databases
  • Coordinate timely processing of business licenses with city staff and agencies
  • Support administrative tasks and document preparation as needed
  • Communicate technical information to staff, public, and developers
