Job summary

The City of Fremont's Community Development Department is seeking a Community Development Technician to support building permits and planning applications. This journey level position provides frontline customer service, processes permit applications, and assists with plan reviews under the supervision of the Plan Check/Permit Center Manager.

The role involves calculating and collecting permit fees, maintaining records, and coordinating with GIS staff to keep the address database current.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of plan checking principles and permit processes.
• Ability to communicate clearly and provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to learn and apply local codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public at the front counter, by phone, or in writing regarding building and development permit requirements.
• Accept building permit and development review applications; review for completeness.
• Enter permit data into the automated database and route plans for review.
• Coordinate with GIS and other City departments, tracking plan reviews.
• Prepare reports and maintain permit information and fees.
