Job summary

PMCS Group, Inc. is seeking a Public Outreach Specialist I for the ATMP Roadways and Enabling Projects at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

You will communicate project plans to residents, businesses, travelers, and elected officials, coordinating with community leaders and agencies to keep the public informed. The role includes writing updates, creating presentations, planning events, and tracking outreach metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Planning, Political Science, or a related field.
• Experience in public outreach, public relations, communications, community engagement, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
• Strong writing, proofreading, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work onsite at LAX offices and project locations (not eligible for remote work).
• Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours for outreach events and project milestones.

Responsibilities

Public Outreach Specialist I - ATMP Roadways Assistant Communications Manager

REQUIRED: Must live in or relocate to Los Angeles, CA area

Be the Voice of LAX's Transformation

LAX is in the middle of one of the largest airport modernization efforts in the country, and the public needs to know what's happening, when, and why. As Public Outreach Specialist I, you'll be on the front line of communications for the Airfield and Terminal Modernization Program (ATMP) Roadways and Enabling Projects, including Century Beautification, LAX Gateway, and multiple LAX Landside projects.

You'll help keep residents, businesses, travelers, and elected officials informed through planning, design, and construction. If you enjoy writing clearly, organizing events, connecting with people, and seeing your work shape how a community experiences a major public project, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

Stakeholder Engagement & Public Response

• Help implement the ATMP Roadways stakeholder engagement and communications plans
• Track and respond to public inquiries, comments, complaints, and information requests, escalating as needed
• Monitor community concerns and project activity, keeping the Public Information Specialist II informed

Content & Communications

• Prepare and distribute traffic advisories, construction notices, project updates, and community notifications
• Draft correspondence, meeting notices, stakeholder updates, and outreach materials
• Build PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets, FAQs, and informational pieces
• Support website updates, social media content, scheduling, and graphics coordination

Events & Field Outreach

• Coordinate open houses, workshops, community meetings, stakeholder briefings, and media events
• Manage agendas, sign-in sheets, schedules, and meeting summaries
• Join field outreach at project sites and community events

Records & Reporting

• Maintain stakeholder databases, distribution lists, and outreach activity logs
• Help prepare reports on outreach efforts and communication metricsSupport contractor and consultant teams in following approved communication protocols

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Planning, Political Science, or a related field
• Experience in public outreach, public relations, communications, community engagement, or a related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
• Strong writing, proofreading, and interpersonal skills
