Job summary

WSP USA Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a Public Involvement Coordinator to support transportation infrastructure communications and public engagement across the Mid-Atlantic region.

You will develop outreach materials, organize stakeholder events, and coordinate with project teams to translate complex information for diverse audiences. This role requires a bachelor’s in communications or related field and 3–5 years of experience, with flexibility for some nights/weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications/Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Urban Planning or related field.
• 3-5 years of communications or planning experience.
• Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Superior organizational, time management and creative skills.
• Experience writing content for website, social media, and media notifications.
• Ability to translate complex technical information for public consumption.

Responsibilities

• Develop messaging and engagement strategies to educate the community about projects.
• Create news releases, brochures, surveys, and media alerts.
• Research and write content for websites, social media, presentations, and talking points.
• Coordinate virtual and in-person public meetings and events with stakeholders.
• Attend external meetings to provide public involvement updates and identify issues.
• Analyze feedback and draft responses to inquiries and media questions.
• Implement social media outreach plans across platforms.
• Review stakeholder feedback and summarize results.
• Direct work of design, website development, video, and photography support.
• Monitor media coverage and coordinate with project teams on messaging.
