Job summary

Baltimore County Public Library seeks a Library Services Assistant to proactively assist customers with diverse library needs, provide information, materials advisory, and help with computers and devices. You will also support shelving, processing returns, and coordinating programs and outreach as needed.

All branch staff will rotate evenings and Sundays as part of the schedule, with potential weekend responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to use computers and library systems.
• Meet federal/state requirements to act as passport application agent.

Responsibilities

• Processes all material types and devices.
• Processes daily monies, prepares revenue reports and makes bank deposits.
• Performs routine collection maintenance duties, shelving and merchandising.
• Creates/manages library customer accounts and handles payments.
• Assists customers with services, appointments, and meeting spaces.
• Uses the catalog to locate and reserve items and provide materials advice.
