Job summary

San Diego City Attorney’s Office invites top second-year law students to apply for the Paid Summer 2027 Internship program. Interns will rotate through Criminal and Civil divisions, gain hands-on courtroom exposure, and receive mentorship from experienced attorneys.

Eligible candidates must be ABA-accredited 2Ls, graduating by 2028 and taking the CA Bar in July 2028. In-person work with a clear path to a post-bar role as Deputy City Attorney is offered.

Qualifications

• Second-year law student (2L) enrolled in ABA-accredited law school.
• On track to graduate by June 2028 and sit for California Bar in July 2028.
• Not currently licensed to practice law.
• Strong academic record and interest in criminal and municipal civil matters.

Responsibilities

• Support both Criminal and Civil divisions under supervision.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.
• Assist with depositions, mediations, and trials.
• Participate in client meetings and document discovery processes.
