Job summary

The City Attorney's Office in San José offers law student internships across the Litigation and Transactional Divisions, exposing you to a broad range of municipal legal work.

Interns assist with litigation stages, draft memoranda and pleadings, and support transactional tasks such as drafting ordinances and contracts. Preference for second or third year law students; up to 32 hours per week; Summer Program runs June 7 to August 6, 2027.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school.
• Preference for students entering their 2nd or 3rd year of law school.
• Completion of coursework in Evidence, Civil Procedure, and Constitutional Law desirable.

Responsibilities

• Litigation Division: assist attorneys with research, memoranda, pleadings, motions, and discovery; participate in strategy meetings; attend mediations, depositions, arbitrations, and trials; certified students may appear in court under supervision.
