Job summary

The Bay Area Air District’s Legal Office invites applications for a Legal Intern position. This temporary, exempt role (summer 2027) offers hands-on experience assisting experienced attorneys on environmental law and regulatory matters.

Interns gain exposure to enforcement actions, rulemakings, and negotiations while developing practical legal skills. This opportunity is designed for current law students or recent graduates preparing for the California bar.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in and have completed the first year at an accredited law school (summer enrollment not required).
• Recent law school graduates may apply if they are studying for the California bar or awaiting admission after bar exam.

Responsibilities

• Draft settlement offers, complaints, and other enforcement documents.
• Research important legal issues and draft memoranda for review by attorneys.
• Attend negotiations, hearings, and other legal meetings; represent the Air District in small claims or Hearing Board cases.
• Provide support for enforcement actions and regulatory work; assist with records and reporting.
• Perform related duties and support special projects as assigned.
