Job summary

State of Arkansas, Arkansas State Parks, seeks an experienced Public Information Supervisor/Expert to lead the Division's program and event public relations efforts, including park activities and partner activations. The role oversees a team of information specialists, develops strategic communications, and ensures content accuracy, crisis readiness, and strong media relations across statewide parks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field preferred.
• Four years of experience in public relations, media relations, or government communications, including two years of supervisory experience.
• Strong writing and editing skills with ability to craft clear messages for diverse audiences.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage high-stress or crisis communication situations.
• Proven leadership and project management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise public information staff and guide communications.
• Assist in development of strategies and plans for communications.
• Review and approve press releases, speeches, and social media content.
• Lead handling of media inquiries, interviews, and public speaking opportunities.
• Coordinate and manage high-profile events with effective media coverage.
• Ensure communications accuracy and compliance with state policies.
