Job summary

Harris Central Appraisal District is seeking an entry-level assistant to provide basic information to property owners via email and phone. This role requires professionalism, courtesy and patience while adhering to district policies.

You will respond to inquiries, research records in HCAD systems, and communicate tax-code guidance clearly. Strong written and verbal communication, attention to deadlines, and knowledge of the Public Information Act are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
• 2 years of related work experience; knowledge of tax rules helpful.
• Ability to research and verify information using district systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve property owners, general public, and other HCAD divisions in a professional, courteous and empathetic manner.
• Provide assistance by receiving and responding to emails and chats, making phone calls; handling written and verbal correspondence.
• Handle adverse situations and upset property owners to provide appropriate solutions within tax code boundaries.
• Provide accurate, clear information on HCAD policies, procedures and tax laws.
• Operate the PC with HCAD systems to research, retrieve and verify records for inquiries.
• Deliver communication regarding tax laws and deadlines; stay updated on changes.
• Handle special projects and tasks as assigned; manage time effectively.
