Job summary

Washoe County is seeking a Public Information Officer to plan, coordinate and lead the countywide public information program. The role acts as the primary liaison with the public, media and governmental partners, delivering timely information and coordinating communications for the District Attorney's Office.

The successful candidate will have at least two years of information dissemination experience and a bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field, with a strong emphasis on media

Qualifications

• Two years of experience preparing and disseminating information through social media platforms, radio, television, newspapers or other publications.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, marketing, political science, public administration, public relations, inter-governmental communications, journalism, television, telecommunications or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and conducts the public information program for a Countywide program or a major County department.
• Serves as liaison with the public, other government entities, partnering agencies, community groups and the media.
• Performs related work as required.
