Job summary

The City of Paris is seeking a Public Information Officer to plan and organize comprehensive public information, community relations, open records, social media, and tourism marketing. The PIO will also serve as the emergency management PIO, with a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities include serving as a spokesperson, managing PEG funding, producing press releases and newsletters, coordinating website content, and guiding brand

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of increasingly responsible experience, preferably within the public sector.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable for the essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains positive media relations.
• Serves as main contact for media, citizenry, and other agencies.
• Manages Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) funding and marketing activities.
• Plans and manages communications, social media, and website content across City departments.
