Job summary

Dept of State Health Services in Texas is seeking a Preparedness and Response Specialist in Amarillo to join the regional PAR team. Under supervision, the Program Specialist III will help manage public health preparedness activities and coordinate with local counties to enhance regional capacity.

The role focuses on planning, training, and collaboration with local governments, agencies, and community partners to address CDC public health and emergency response capabilities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university with major coursework related to emergency management or public health.
• Two years’ experience in emergency management related field or two years’ experience in public health.
• Experience in working within an NIMS/ICS framework (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages regional public health preparedness efforts with assigned counties.
• Assists counties with disaster readiness plans, drills, and community wellness improvements.
• Liaises with local government officials and stakeholders to coordinate preparedness activities.
• Develops trainings and related materials for community groups, schools, and partner agencies.
• Deploys to disaster districts as needed and supports ESF-8 coordination.
