Job summary

Texas Health Institute seeks an Emergency Preparedness and Response Division Director, a clinician with extensive disaster management expertise. The role directs planning, mitigation, response, and recovery across Trauma Service Area P and interfaces with hospitals, EMS, and state partners to ensure readiness.

The Director oversees regional programs, manages contracts, and coordinates with ASPR, DSHS and local authorities to strengthen hospital readiness for all-hazards threats.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• EMT-Paramedic, Licensed Paramedic or Registered Nurse preferred.
• At least three years of experience in managerial or administrative position.
• Knowledge of NIMS, Hospital Incident Command Systems and NRP.
• Familiarity with ASPR, CDC and Homeland Security Grant Programs.
• Completion of IC 100, IC 200.

Responsibilities

• Oversee disaster and emergency management planning, mitigation, response and recovery for the emergency healthcare system in Trauma Service Area P.
• Coordinate planning and response resources with hospital, pre-hospital and local, county, regional and state emergency management officials.
• Build partnerships to support health and medical needs of emergency support functions during a disaster.
• Supervise the Hospital Preparedness Program contract and report to ASPR via the State Department of Health Services.
• Serve as SME for health and medical issues during disasters and participate in regional incident management activities.
