Job summary

The New York State Department of Health is seeking a phlebotomist to prepare lab slips, code tests, and maintain resident unit lab books. You will monitor lab results, issue clinical notifications, and ensure phlebotomy supplies are stocked and safe, including daily refrigerator temperature checks.

You will also manage calls, messages, and fax communications throughout the day to support timely care. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of phlebotomy experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of phlebotomy experience or a certificate in Phlebotomy.
• Phlebotomy skills used to create lab slips, code tests, and maintain lab books.
• Ability to monitor lab results and assist with clinical notifications.

Responsibilities

• Create lab slips from medical provider orders and code each test accurately.
• Prepare lab slips and maintain resident unit lab books.
• Monitor lab results and issue clinical notifications as needed.
• Ensure phlebotomy supplies are available, fresh, and safe, including daily refrigerator temperature checks.
• Manage phone calls and messages, follow up as required, and handle fax communications.
