Job summary

The City of New York, NYC Health Department, seeks a Public Health Adviser to support the Bureau of Public Health Clinics. You will assist with triage, registration, specimen collection, and lab coordination in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Ideal candidates hold a health-related degree or equivalent experience and will perform clerical duties, phlebotomy, and data documentation while helping maintain inventory and workflow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with health education/biological sciences credits.
• Bachelor’s degree plus six months in a health promotion/disease program.
• High school diploma with four years’ related experience.
• Education/experience equivalent to above, with college credits substituting for experience.
• To qualify for Assignment II, one year as Public Health Adviser or extra year in health program work.

Responsibilities

• Register and greet patients; document intake in EMR.
• Set up collection room and follow guidelines for specimens.
• Prepare specimens for STI testing and transport to labs.
• Perform registration, finger-stick testing, phlebotomy and posting results.
• Maintain inventory; prepare e-order forms for supplies.
• Document all forms and ensure proper data entry.
• Assist supervisor and related duties as needed.
