Job summary

Suffolk County Department of Health Services, based in Great River, NY, seeks a Physician for a full-time Medical Program Administrator role within Health Department Administration. The position involves non-clinical oversight of clinical units across Patient Care and Public Health, with schedule Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm.

The role requires NY medical licensure and at least two years of practice experience, with potential substitutions for board eligibility or certification.

Qualifications

• License to practice medicine in NY and two (2) years of experience as a licensed physician in the field of assignment.
• Board eligibility or board certification substitutions may apply for time requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for the Directors/ Acting Director of Public Health and Patient Care.
• Oversee assigned programs in the Division of Patient Care.
• Supervise implementation of programs by directors with compliance oversight.
• Provide clinical oversight and guidance for unit clinical staff.
• Draft and update policies for patient care and public health in coordination with the Division Director.
• Maintain standing orders for patient care programs.
• Serve as a clinical consultant for nursing and provider staff.
• Prepare legal documents for public health with County Attorney’s office.
• Perform clinical work in occupational medicine and manage vaccination clinics as needed.
• Participate in committees and community emergency preparedness activities.
