Job summary

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is seeking a Physician for a full-time Medical Program Administrator role in Health Department Administration. Based in Great River, NY, the position is primarily non-clinical with oversight of clinical units across Patient Care and Public Health.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm. Open to provisional appointment with responsibilities including clinical oversight, policy development, and program supervision.

Qualifications

• License to practice medicine in the State of New York.
• Two (2) years of experience as a licensed physician in the field of assignment.
• Board Eligibility in Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, or Internal Medicine may substitute for one year of experience; Board Certification may substitute for two years.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for Directors/ Acting Director of Public Health and Patient Care.
• Oversee programs in the Division of Patient Care and supervise directors.
• Develop and update policies and procedures for Patient Care and Public Health.
• Maintain standing orders for Patient Care programs.
• Serve as clinical consultant for nursing and provider staff.
• Prepare legal documents with County Attorney’s office for public health.
• Perform clinical work in occupational medicine and manage vaccination clinics.
• Participate in committees and community public health emergency activities.
