Job summary

Suffolk County Department of Health Services in Great River, NY seeks a Physician for a full-time Medical Program Administrator role in Health Department Administration. Responsibilities include non-clinical oversight of clinical units, policy development, and standing orders across Patient Care and Public Health.

The position requires NY medical licensure and at least two years of licensed physician experience; provisional appointments are possible.

Qualifications

• Must hold a license to practice medicine in New York State.
• Two (2) years of experience as a licensed physician in the field of assignment.
• Board eligibility or board certification may substitute for portions of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for the Directors/ Acting Director of Public Health and Patient Care when they are unavailable.
• Oversee assigned programs in the Division of Patient Care and supervise implementation by directors.
• Develop, review and update policies and procedures for Division of Patient Care and Public Health in coordination with the Division Director.
• Maintain standing orders for use by Patient Care programs.
• Serve as a clinical consultant for nursing and provider staff in multiple units.
• Coordinate with the County Attorney’s office to prepare legal documents for public health.
• Perform clinical work in occupational medicine and manage vaccination clinics as needed.
• Participate in committees and engage in public health emergency preparedness activities.
