Job summary

Dept of State Health Services in Austin, TX seeks a Customer Service Rep I to respond to telephone, fax and email requests for laboratory test results. You will print reports using Labware, Harvest and Perkin-Elmer and ensure timely delivery to the mailroom.

The role includes rabies result reporting, form verification and distribution, and helping maintain a laboratory-wide safety culture with occasional weekend or alternate shifts.

Qualifications

• At least one year experience assisting customers via phone, fax, or email.
• Experience answering large volumes of phones in a call center or work setting.
• Experience working with confidential material such as personal/sensitive information, medical records, or banking information.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests from health care professionals for confidential lab test results by phone, fax, or email.
• Print laboratory reports using Labware, Harvest and Perkin-Elmer systems and deliver to mailroom by 11:30 daily.
• Verbal reporting of rabies test results to submitter and to Public Health Regions as needed.
• Verify, generate and distribute laboratory submission forms; provide monthly call totals and report duplicates.
• Support safety culture and COOP readiness; participate in weekend/alternate shift as needed.
