Job summary
The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is hiring Public Health Advisers to support the Quickie Lab within the Express Clinic team. You will perform HIV rapid testing, patient counseling, and data entry in EMR/EPIC, while coordinating with clinic staff to ensure timely and accurate results.
Applicants must have a health-related bachelor degree and may need HIV counseling certification; phlebotomy training is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in health education or health/biological sciences with 12 credits in health education or related fields.
- Certification in HIV counseling may be required for some assignments.
- Phlebotomy training may be required for certain tasks.
- Annual health assessment required for Public Health Advisers.
Responsibilities
- Manage collection rooms and disinfect surfaces after each collection.
- Perform HIV rapid INSTI tests and provide results.
- Prepare specimen collection kits for patients and deliver specimens to Quickie Lab.
- Enter patient results into EMR/EPIC and review reasons for visit.
- Advise patients confidentially if diagnosed with STI, HIV, or Covid for follow-ups.
- Establish effective communication with staff and management to meet needs.
