Job summary

NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) seeks a skilled data scientist to advance the Center for Population Health Data Science (CPHDS) initiatives. The role focuses on evaluating supportive housing and health equity outcomes using advanced data methods and cross-agency collaboration.

Responsibilities include applying analytic techniques, managing multi-source data, and guiding policy-relevant analyses.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public health or related field.
• At least five years of health research or program evaluation experience.
• Experience using causal inference or data science methods in public health.
• Familiarity with Medicaid claims or SPARCS data and data matching.

Responsibilities

• Apply analytic, statistical, and programming skills for design, planning and implementation of research and evaluation projects.
• Co-lead data matching and data management processes with data engineers on multi-agency projects.
• Develop database storage systems and periodically upload, transform, and manage data for team projects.
• Document data matching, management, and governance processes.
• Co-author peer-reviewed manuscripts related to health outcomes.
• Interpret research findings to inform policy and programmatic decision making.
• Prepare and present knowledge products (slides, briefs) to internal and external audiences.
• Participate in data- and methods-related technical assistance to agency projects.
