Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a City Research Scientist to advance population health through rigorous science, data analysis, and policy-oriented research. This role focuses on developing evidence to reduce health disparities and inform citywide health strategies.

You will lead systems building, data management, grant administration, and collaborations with schools and community partners to improve health outcomes across New York City.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
  • For Assignment Level II, a doctorate or a master's with 3+ years of relevant research experience.
  • At least two years in supervisory or administrative roles in public health research.

Responsibilities

  • Systems building, data management, and reporting for CHSC Harlem Bureau initiatives.
  • Develop and disseminate best practices; integrate data with Harlem Bureau systems.
  • Lead community and school partnerships to support CHSC activities.
  • Oversee day-to-day planning, implementation, and grant management.
  • Coordinate vendors, staff, and partners for activity delivery and evaluation.
