Job summary

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a City Research Scientist I to support data interpretation, reporting and dashboard development for Harm Reduction programs and other HRU initiatives. You will help maintain datasets, collaborate on evaluation activities, and present findings to staff and partners.

Qualifications include master’s or doctorate in relevant fields, proficiency in SAS/R/SQL, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• Doctorate with relevant supervisory/research experience or a master's with multiple years of research.
• Experience interpreting data, epidemiology, and surveillance literature.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance on data interpretation and management.
• Develop data reports and dashboards; support QA processes.
• Create and maintain HRU data sets and reports (AIRS, eSHARE).
• Support communication between HRU and Research and Surveillance Unit.
• Collaborate on evaluation and research activities.
• Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences.
• Assist with data requests and policy-informed reporting.
