Job summary

Linn County seeks a strategic leader for the Public Health Assessment and Health Promotion Branch. You will guide staff, oversee data collection and reporting, and drive the CHA/CHIP process to improve population health outcomes.

The role requires planning, evaluation, and grant management skills, with responsibility for budget and external funding. Monday–Friday, on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in program planning, implementation, capacity building, coalition coordination, evaluation and sustainability in the health/human services field.
• Professional certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist is required within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, supervision, and strategic guidance to AHP Branch staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and developing personnel.
• Guides and directs analysis of population health data, ensures data accuracy and timely reporting, monitors health trends and program outcomes.
• Leads CHA/CHIP stakeholder engagement and implements evidence-based public health practices.
• Identifies population health needs and maps services to address gaps in Linn County.
• Prepares and monitors branch budget and allocates resources with fiscal responsibility.
• Secures external funding, including grants and interagency contracts, to support priorities.
