Job summary

Oklahoma County is seeking an Accounting Specialist in the County Clerk’s Office to assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. You will prepare and reconcile financial records, assist with GAAP-based statements, and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure accurate financial operations.

The role supports the preparation of the Annual Adopted Budget and ACFR, requires attention to detail, and emphasizes process improvement and data integrity within the MUNIS system.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of GAAP and relevant governmental standards (GASB).
• Strong budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation.
• Experience with financial systems and public sector reporting.
• Ability to translate complex financial terms for non-financial audiences.
• Familiarity with MUNIS ERP or similar governmental ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, reconcile, and maintain financial records and journal entries per policies and GAAP.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Compile financial reports for Board of County Commissioners and other authorities.
• Support County budget preparation and the ACFR by gathering data and documentation.
• Analyze processes to identify discrepancies and monitor financial trends.
• Maintain data in MUNIS and ensure accuracy and reporting functionality.
