Job summary

County of San Mateo is seeking a County Facilities Security Manager to supervise security operations across five County buildings and additional facilities. This civilian management role coordinates security contracts, budgets, and training while partnering with local law enforcement to ensure safe environments.

Ideal candidate will bring extensive security management experience, strong ethics, and effective communication skills.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of extensive security management experience with supervisory duties.
• Experience with security contracts and vendor management.
• Knowledge of active shooter response and emergency preparedness procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage security agreements and contracts for multiple County buildings.
• Collaborate with the Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies regarding security of Hall of Justice and facilities.
• Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of surveillance camera systems and other security technologies.
• Test and conduct security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
• Manage relationships with third-party security vendors and ensure compliance with security requirements.
• Develop, schedule, and conduct safety and security training programs for County personnel, including active shooter response training.
• Respond to security incidents and coordinate appropriate follow-up actions.
• Supervise and evaluate security staff assigned to County facilities.
• Prepare and maintain reports related to security operations, incidents, and compliance.
