Job summary

County of Santa Clara is seeking a senior leader to oversee a diverse team of project managers, construction managers, inspectors, and consultant program managers for County building projects. You will guide complex facilities initiatives from planning through construction, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and cost efficiency.

The role demands strategic oversight of scope, budgets, and schedules, plus collaboration across County departments and external consultants.

Qualifications

• Leadership and supervising project teams.
• Knowledge of public sector facilities projects and standards.
• Ability to manage budgets and schedules for large construction programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scope, budget, funding, and schedule.
• Participate in consultant selection and contract negotiations.
• Coordinate among County, consultants, and agencies.
• Keep projects within approved budgets and schedules; review claims and payments.
• Prepare and present project status reports and participate in public hearings.
• Guide staff on project criteria, regulations, codes, standards and schedules.
• Address CEQA, ADA, energy conservation, and other requirements.
• Develop strategic facility plans and assess existing structures.
• Review technical reports and contract documents for constructability and cost efficiency.
• Supervise inspection and completion of projects; ensure timely closeout.
