The Public Defender Office in Carlisle, PA seeks two Social Workers to support attorneys by gathering client information that may affect criminal cases, including history of housing, health, employment, and trauma, and presenting findings to attorneys to aid case resolutions. The Social Worker will build community connections, coordinate referrals, and assist in data collection.

Positions are grant-funded for one year with a potential extension; a hybrid schedule may be available after six

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
• Master’s degree in Social Work preferred but not required from an accredited college or university.

Mansioni

• Interviewing clients.
• Identifying and obtaining appropriate services based on the client’s stated needs.
• Making contact with client’s attorney prior to any contact and including the attorney in meetings if requested.
• Coordinate client cases and advocacy with attorneys; preparing correspondence and reports for court use.
• Establishing relationships with community services and supports; interfacing with law enforcement and housing authorities.
• Appearing in court with clients and monitoring progress throughout the pendency of cases.
