Job summary

Lancaster County Public Defender's Office is seeking a Social Service Case Manager to provide psychosocial support to clients during criminal proceedings, under staff attorneys’ direction.

You will assess needs in mental health, housing, employment and education; gather records; coordinate with APDs; and help craft disposition and sentencing plans while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with county agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or related social sciences.
• Two years of caseworker experience; three years of professional social casework preferred.
• Any equivalent combination including 12 college credits in related fields.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial support to clients during criminal proceedings.
• Assess client needs across mental health, housing, employment, and education.
• Coordinate with APDs to propose sentencing alternatives and prepare reports.
• Gather treatment records to aid competency determinations.
• Connect clients to social services and testify on needs in court when required.
• Maintain case tracking and assist in mitigation investigations.
