Job summary

State-of-Minnesot seeks a capable attorney to provide criminal defense services for indigent defendants in district court and to juveniles in delinquency matters. You will interview clients, prepare briefs, and conduct legal research under general supervision.

Responsibilities include representing clients at arraignments, pre-trial hearings and trials; negotiating with prosecutors and coordinating with social workers and judges to determine appropriate defense strategies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college of law and admission to the Minnesota Bar.
• Individuals hired under student practice must pass the bar on their first attempt.

Responsibilities

• Prepares cases for defense of indigent defendants in district court; handles juvenile delinquency matters.
• Interviews clients and prospective witnesses; drafts briefs, memoranda and pleadings.
• Conducts legal research and represents clients in arraignments, hearings, trials, and dispositions.
• Consults with prosecutors, social workers, judges and others to determine appropriate defenses and treatment programs.
