Job summary

King County’s Solid Waste Division invites applications for Capital Project Manager II to lead major CIP efforts, including Cedar Hills Regional Landfill and related programs. The role spans full lifecycle PM—from scope, schedule, and budget to procuring consultants and managing construction—delivering sustainable regional infrastructure.

Join a team of PMs in the PMO, collaborating with engineers, stakeholders, and landowners to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 1 year of design/construction PM lead experience.
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills across diverse disciplines.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor costs and schedules; control deviations to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, consultants, and stakeholders; document requirements and decisions.
  • Develop procurement management and contract closeout documents; manage procurements.
  • Develop project baselines, scope change docs, variance analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Organize and manage project work and resources; support senior PM in scope, schedule, budget, risk, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with construction management, operations, program staff, consultants, and engineers for seamless delivery.
  • Participate in diverse teams on multiple high-priority, complex CIP projects; foster collaboration and resolve conflicts.
  • Communicate complex issues clearly to staff, agencies, management, and the public.
  • Support senior PM in presenting technical information to project teams, landowners, and elected officials.
  • Procure and manage consultants and contractors per King County procurement policies.
  • Apply project management standards and SWD PMO guidelines across workload.
