In this role, you'll support SWD's capital improvement program by providing project management for large capital projects and contracts. As part of the SWD Project Management Office (PMO), you'll join a team of motivated project managers and engage stakeholders across all SWD's lines of business working on regional public infrastructure projects at the forefront of environmental leadership. The Capital Project Manager II supports major capital improvement projects across the Solid Waste Division, including work on the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill, Recycling and Transfer Station Program, and asset management initiatives. In this role, you’ll guide projects through the full lifecycle—from defining scope, schedule, and budget to procuring and managing consultants, overseeing design and construction, and coordinating with engineers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable and sustainable infrastructure for the region.
In this role, you'll collaborate with and support a team of highly motivated project managers leading a portfolio of large, complex capital improvement projects (CIPs), and you may lead smaller‑scale CIPs of your own. It’s an opportunity to take on substantive, multifaceted work while building a deep, well‑rounded project management career.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County‑issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
