Job summary

BCG Attorney Search in San Francisco, CA is seeking a Government Associate Attorney with 1–2 years of experience to join our team. The role covers public agency, water, and transit matters, offering a chance to collaborate with partners and senior attorneys across California.

JD required and California Bar admission, with a preference for candidates familiar with transactions, advice & counsel, or litigation.

Qualifications

• Up to two years of practice experience, including recent graduates.
• Experience with transactions, advice & counsel, and/or litigation is a plus.
• Prior experience with public agencies is advantageous but not required.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and develop a niche.
• Willingness to attend in-person client meetings in the SF Bay Area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with legal matters for public agency clients, including competitive bidding and procurement.
• Engage in public works contracting and alternative project delivery.
• Address transparency and open meeting laws, conflict of interest issues, and rate setting.
• Conduct legal research and writing; review and draft contracts.
• Draft policies and resolutions; analyze water law and environmental aspects of projects.
• Support transactions, advice & counsel, and litigation matters for clients.
• Participate in business development efforts, including speaking and networking.
