Job summary

BCG Attorney Search in San Rafael, California seeks a mid-level Labor and Employment Associate to advise public agencies and special districts on employment, governance and litigation matters. The role offers a mix of litigation and advisory work with substantive client-facing responsibilities from the start.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of labor and employment experience, preferably with public agency clients, and be comfortable in both courtroom and advisory settings.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of labor and employment experience, preferably with public agency clients.
• Comfortable in both courtroom and advisory settings.
• Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Exposure to government law topics (FEHA, FLSA/FMLA, POBR/FBOR, or public records) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Represent public agency clients in employment litigation, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings.
• Handle employee discipline appeals and draft arbitration briefs.
• Conduct witness preparation and manage cases through hearings.
• Advise clients on employment policies, discipline, and compliance matters.
• Conduct and support workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
• Engage in labor negotiations and advise on workforce matters.
• Counsel clients on government law issues, including the California Public Records Act and the Brown Act.
• Draft training materials and present to client boards and HR teams.
