Job summary

Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) in Glynco, GA, seeks a Public Affairs Specialist (GS-1035-9/11/12) to enhance the agency’s image through strategic communications, media relations, and marketing of training programs.

The position is based in the Director's Office, Office of Public Affairs, with duties including drafting releases, coordinating marketing efforts, and managing official social media to reach diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 in the federal service using messaging campaigns to collect, assemble, prepare, and disseminate information to internal and external audiences.
• Graduate education: masters or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; LL.B. or J.D. may apply if directly to the work.
• An equivalent combination of graduate education and specialized experience; education beyond the first 18 semester hours may be combined with specialized experience.

Responsibilities

• Advise FLETC personnel on handling problems and incidents related to the organization’s programs.
• Coordinate, negotiate, and execute marketing strategies with senior officials, government and private sector partners, and media personnel.
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct tours of the FLETC facilities.
• Draft articles, press releases, and speeches for the FLETC Director and other senior officials.
• Assist with the implementation of professional marketing strategies for FLETC training programs.
• Use and maintain FLETC Official Social Media platforms to communicate mission and training.
• Establish and maintain relationships with print and broadcast media to disseminate information and respond to inquiries.
