Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Public Affairs Intern to support the Public Affairs team across communications, internal relations, external relations, and government relations. The role provides hands-on experience with employee newsletters, news releases, events, and community engagement.

Eligible students must be enrolled in Mass Communications or Marketing with at least 30 hours completed and a 3.0 GPA.

Qualifications

• Full-time student enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s program in Mass Communications or Marketing with at least 30 hours completed prior to start of co-op
• GPA of 3.0; provide current GPA to verify eligibility
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Communications: assist with writing for employee newsletter and news releases using AP style, photography, and media schedule planning
• Internal Relations: assist with coordination of internal events
• External Relations: assist with coordination of external events and volunteering activities
• Government Relations: assist with events with local legislative delegation and elected officials
• Build professional relationships within the community including local media representatives and elected officials
