Job summary

HSE Intern - Safety at CITGO Petroleum Corporation in Houston, TX, is a hands-on internship within Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Emergency Preparedness, Industrial Hygiene, Employee Health, or Contractor Safety. You will work with safety professionals to implement and improve the safety management system across operating areas.

Eligible full‑time students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree must have completed 30 semester hours, a 3.0+ GPA, and a valid driver’s license; TWIC

Qualifications

• Full‑time student pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology, Safety, Occupational Health, Emergency Preparedness, or Public Health.
• Must have completed 30 semester hours in the topics above.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• TWIC card eligibility requirement as per Maritime Transportation Security Act.

Responsibilities

• Assist in field surveys/audits of business unit operations.
• Assist in development and implementation of processes for tracking and analyzing HSE data for trending and reporting.
• Develop HSE posters, moments, flashes, and other training materials.
• Aid in improvement initiatives around contractor HSE incident management and ISNetworld usage.
• Enter data into a central database.
• Provide support for facility HSE Committee(s)/Team(s).
• Participate in HSE Management Systems reviews or self-assessments.
