Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital in Georgia is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to oversee routine safety and emergency security tasks, safeguarding patients, staff and visitors, and serving as the first responder to incidents within the facility.

You will de-escalate critical events with sound judgment, carry mandatory weapons as required, and meet ongoing training and certification requirements within a hospital setting. This full-time role supports hospital operations and safety culture.

Qualifications

• 2 years of general security or public safety experience requiring active firearm carriage (Required)
• Equivalence of training and job experience to demonstrate responsible handling of weapons
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening
• Maintain training to include Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton and MHFA
• Georgia POST certification preferred

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• 2 years of experience in general security, military or other public safety experience where required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty Required or


• equivalence of training and job experience to support effective demonstration of responsible handling of weapons and use of force. Required

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 Upon Hire Required


• IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer within 1 Year Required


• Carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or a baton Required


• Carry company issued firearm Required


• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening Required


• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment to include certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed Required


• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
