Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Sr. Public Safety Officer, Armed to safeguard patients, staff, visitors and property. You will respond as the first responder to emergencies, de-escalate critical events, and conduct Public Safety training for new staff.

The role requires 2 years of public safety experience with firearm handling or equivalent training, plus required licenses and certifications. On-boarding and ongoing training are part of the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years in general security, military, or public safety experience involving carrying a firearm or equivalent training to demonstrate responsible handling of weapons and use of force.

Responsibilities

• Ensure routine safety and emergency security for students, staff, visitors, and property.
• Provide Public Safety training and development programs.
• Respond as first responder to emergencies and de-escalate critical incidents with sound judgment.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• 2 years in general security, military, or other public safety experience where to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty Required or
• an equivalence of training and job experience to support effective demonstration of responsible handling of weapons and use of force Required

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid Driver's license & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 Upon Hire Required and
• IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer within 1 Year Required and
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening Upon Hire Required and
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment to include certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed Upon Hire Required
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
