Job summary

The Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury in Lake Katrine, NY, seeks a PTA to join our team on a per diem basis. You will support residents with physical therapy, coordinate with physicians, and document care notes.

We offer a per diem schedule with $35 per hour, access to a rural 39-acre campus with facilities, and a team dedicated to rebuilding body, mind and spirit.

Qualifications

• Must possess an Associate's Degree from an accredited PTA program.
• Must hold a valid state license.

Responsibilities

• Review requests for therapy and physician orders.
• Interview residents to determine treatment and schedule therapy.
• Select activities and exercises based on medical and social history.
• Evaluate therapy type after physician consultation.
• Assist in resident assessments (MDS) and care plans, including quarterly reviews.
• Transport residents to and from therapy as needed.
• Demonstrate procedures to residents and staff.
• Perform therapy in resident rooms as necessary.
• Instruct and supervise residents during therapy.
• Assist residents in ambulatory training.
• Recommend changes in therapy as indicated.
• Ensure therapist notes are informative and descriptive.

PTA Physical Therapist Assistant

Join our Team at the Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury!

We are a one-of-a-kind rehabilitation and community re-entry facility in Lake Katrine, NY, specializing in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Ventilator Care and Ventilator Weaning, Neurobehavioral Disorders, and Complex Medical Recovery. Our facility is designed to promote re-acquisition of cognitive, physical and social skills in a naturalistic setting, and we are currently seeking a PTA Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team on a per diem basis.

Responsibilities:

• Review requests for music therapy and physician's orders
• Interview residents to determine type of treatment and schedule therapy
• Select rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on medical and social history of residents
• Evaluate type of therapy most desirable after consulting with physician
• Participate in the development and implementation of resident assessments (MDS) and care plans, including quarterly reviews
• Assist in transporting residents to and from physical therapy room/area
• Demonstrate procedures involved in the treatment process to residents and staff personnel
• Perform physical therapy in resident rooms as necessary
• Reassure residents before and after therapy treatment
• Prepare residents for treatment by dressing and positioning them
• Instruct and supervise residents during therapy
• Assist residents in ambulatory training as necessary
• Recommend modifications and changes in the resident's therapy treatment as indicated
• Ensure that all therapist notes are informative and descriptive of the care provided and of the resident's response to the care

Requirements:

• Must possess an Associate's Degree from an accredited program conferring the title of Physical Therapist Assistant
• Must hold a valid state license
