Job summary

Houses of Hope in Lincoln, NE is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Specialist to join our new Short-Term Residential program opening in November. You will provide direct care and support, complete observations, assist with intake/discharge, and administer medications under supervision.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health needs, ensuring a safe and respectful environment and contributing to program culture

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21.
• Valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of insurance; clean DMV record.
• CPR/First Aid and Med Aide Certified (will provide training).
• Bachelor’s Degree or two years of education in related field with two years of experience in related field.
• Must be available to work during non-traditional hours.

Responsibilities

• Foster and maintain a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed environment for all individuals served.
• Interact with individuals empathetically while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Provide supervision and support by reinforcing program expectations and addressing behaviors as needed.
• Complete assigned intake and discharge responsibilities.
• Perform regular observation checks and document observations accurately and timely.
• Facilitate psychoeducational groups.
• Support individuals with daily activities and other program-related needs.
• Administer medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse and document in the electronic health record.
• Administer drug screening and alcohol-use testing per procedures.
• Recognize and respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques.
• Notify staff after stabilization of a crisis or significant incident.
• Document significant clinical observations and interactions during each shift.
• Communicate observations to multidisciplinary team members.
• Collaborate with medical staff, social workers, counselors, and other professionals.
• Assist with transportation using a company vehicle.
• Maintain a safe, clean, therapeutic residential environment.
