Job summary

Allentown City School District is seeking a PT Security Officer to help protect students and staff on school premises and safeguard district property. This is an 11-month position with duties spanning regular school sessions and summer sessions up to 225 days.

The role requires prior security or law enforcement experience or an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, completion of required training, and a clear background check.

Qualifications

• Must have law enforcement or security experience, or an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice.
• Must complete required training programs as determined by the Allentown School District.
• Consistent record of satisfactory work performance.
• Clear or acceptable background and clearance checks.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned building, grounds and halls to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
• Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows and gates to ensure security.
• Confronts unauthorized persons for identification, routing and/or assistance or calls police per emergency plan.
• Responds as directed by the building administrator in security matters.
• Patrols school grounds and adjacent areas to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles.
• Drafts and submits written reports of security incidents and violations.
• Responds immediately to all requests for assistance in emergencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned under contract.

Summary

The Security Officer assists in the educational process by protecting students and staff members from harm while on school premises, and protecting school-owned property from loss or damage caused by anti-social acts. This is an 11-month position, with responsibilities spanning the regular school and summer school sessions up to a maximum of 225 days.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Patrols assigned building, grounds and halls to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
2. Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows and gates to determine that they are secure.
3. Confronts unauthorized persons for identification, routing and/or assistance or calls police for assistance according to emergency action plan.
4. Responds as directed by the building administrator in matters of security.
5. Patrols school grounds and adjacent areas as assigned to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles.

7. Responds immediately to all requests for assistance in emergency situations.
8. Performs other duties as assigned under contract.
