Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a part-time Mental Health Therapist to deliver school-based services within Montgomery County Public Schools. The role supports youths and families, delivering individual, family and group therapy in a collaborative team with educators, school staff and other YMCA professionals.

This 12-month position requires a Master’s degree and Maryland licensure, with a competitive hourly rate of $40–$45 and a manageable caseload.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy.
• Current Maryland licensure as LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, LCPC, LGMFT or Psych Associate.
• Knowledge of evidence-based models of treatment (e.g., CBT, DBT, play therapy, structural family therapy).

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical evaluation, bio-psycho-social assessments, diagnostic impressions, and treatment planning.
• Provide individual, family and group counseling to a caseload of 10.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed to youth.
• Lead or co-lead psycho-educational and therapy groups for children, teens and parents.
• Consult with parents, school staff, and medical providers regarding progress.
• Attend school and parent meetings (IEP, 504, ARD, suspensions) as needed.
