Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to provide school-based therapeutic intervention to youths and families within Montgomery County Public Schools. This role involves collaboration with educators, school counselors, and YMCA staff to remove barriers to care.

The MHT handles individual, family and group counseling, crisis intervention and classroom observations, with a goal of supporting strong kids and families in the community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy.
• Maryland licensure as LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, LCPC, LGMFT, LCMFT or Psych Associate.
• Experience with youths and families in school-based settings.
• Knowledge of evidence-based models (CBT, DBT, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Performs bio-psycho-social assessments to develop treatment plans.
• Provides individual, family and group counseling for a caseload of youths.
• Provides crisis intervention as needed.
• Leads psycho-educational and therapy groups.
• conducts classroom observations when indicated.
• Consults with parents and school staff on progress.
• Attends school and parent meetings as needed.
