Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to join a school-based program in Montgomery County Public Schools. This 12-month clinician role focuses on youth and family mental health within a collaborative team of YMCA and school staff.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a related field and Maryland licensure with experience in evidence-based treatments. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred to support diverse families.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy.
• Current Maryland licensure as LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, LCPC, LGMFT, LCMFT or Psych Associate.
• Knowledge of evidence-based treatment models (e.g., CBT, DBT, play therapy, family therapy).
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical evaluation, bio-psycho-social assessments, diagnoses and treatment planning.
• Provide individual, family and group counseling to a caseload of 19-21.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed to youth.
• Lead or co-lead psycho-educational and therapy groups.
• Provide classroom observations when indicated.
• Consult with parents, school staff and medical providers regarding progress.
• Attend school and parent meetings (IEP, 504, ARD/suspension).
• Offer assistance during crises.
• Support YMCA mission through involvement in events and trainings.
