Job summary

UPMC Mercy is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician to support our Hydrotherapy Unit, a 3-bay center attached to the Trauma Burn ICU. Treatments occur Monday–Friday with occasional weekends; burn dressing changes are performed after training.

The role involves direct patient care, ADL assistance, and nursing duties such as vital signs and specimen collection. Experience is not required, but comfort with burn care is essential and prior CNA/PCT competency is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of general healthcare experience, OR 6 months as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency within 120 days, OR enrollment in health training with clinical rotation, OR bachelor’s in health sciences.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including assisting with procedures and activities of daily living.
• Assist with nursing core tasks: blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collection and Foley care.
• Report patient status changes to RN and communicate with the health care team.
• Recognize equipment issues and maintain safety, cleanliness, and teamwork.
